Siesta Key, FL. what a great 2009!
Siesta Key beach, located in Sarasota Florida had it's day in the sun as it made the #2 beach in the United States! This year Stephen Leatherman, known as Dr. Beach, named Siesta Key's beach as the second-best in the nation.
"I use 50 criteria to rate every beach, and in terms of sand alone Siesta Key is definitely the best in the world," Dr. Leatherman said. Science backs up the hyperbole: Siesta Key's beach is 99 percent quartz, which stays consistently cool and silky even in the peak of summer.
Siesta Key's downtown area which is better known as "The Village" by locals, received a multi-million dollar facelift during the offseason. Overhead utilities were buried, charming street lights, signage, paver sidewalks and lush landscaping were aslo added.
The main roads on the island were also recently paved finishing the over all make over.
There are plans in the works to make changes to the public beach parking lot which will add parking spaces and also some needed shade to the parking lot by adding oak and palm trees. Keep checking our site for updates on this proposed plan. We are hoping that it comes to fruition!
Season is right around the corner and we expect that the real estate market will continue to strengthen. We have seen solid sales through summer and into this fall which is usually a slow time for real estate in the area.
Inventory levels continue to decline and we hope this trend continues as it will ease the property value declines expreinced over the past 3 years.
