Top 20 Most Expensive Cities based on Average Home Price

According to the data pulled from the HouseHunt neighborhood demographics, 16 of the 20 most expensive U.S. cities are located in California. Nine of the 20 most expensive cities are found in Southern California, including the three most expensive: Thousand Oaks ($12,154,090), Montecito ($7,617,000) and Malibu ($6,691,600). Seven zipcodes on the list are found in Northern California cities, including the San Francisco Bay communities of Stinson Beach ($3,529,167), Palo Alto ($2,828,600) and Portola Valley ($2,568,000). Florida shows up three times with the communities of Coral Gables ($3,388,483), Palm Beach ($2,920,538) and Terra Ceia Island ($2,876,286). The list of the most expensive cities is completed by Medina, Washington ($3,634,000). The list is aggregated by zipcode, based on the average home prices of three-bedroom, single-family homes, and includes areas with five or more listings on the market.
