Nationwide Real Estate > Best Places to Live 2012 – Small Cities |
|
Think big? Not so fast. When it comes to nice places to live in the United States, small towns have a lot to offer. What they lack in physical and residential size is compensated for with healthy doses of community pride, knowing your neighbors and feeling safe.
Money Magazine had reporters comb through data and fan out across the country to identify towns with populations of less than 50,000 that stand out in the qualities American families say they care about most.
The goal was to find the best combination of job opportunities, fiscal strength, top-notch schools, safe streets, good healthcare and cultural and outdoor activities. The research showed that Indiana is a good place to live for those values, with the state placing three towns in the Top 20, including Carmel, Indiana, which earned 2012's top spot.
